Psalm 123

  1. To you I lift up my eyes,
O you who are enthroned in the heavens!
  2. Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maidservant
to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he has mercy upon us.
  3. Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us,
for we have had more than enough of contempt.
  4. Our soul has had more than enough
of the scorn of those who are at ease,
of the contempt of the proud.

This song is definitely for me. I have had enough of people laughing at me.

And “the scorn of those who are at ease”. In the office next door is a little start-up (three people) which is essentially a hobby: the owner has made his money selling a previous company. With this new company they are playing at the Silicon Valley lifestyle, and making iPad knick-knacks which they don’t need to actually sell. I seethe with hatred.

  1. This psalms speaks to me as well. This part in particular: “our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he has mercy upon us.”
Like Jacob wrestling with the Angel, we don’t let the Lord go until he blesses us.

    • Hm, that “till” is interesting. One of the things most intriguing for me about the Old Testament is the portayal of the continuing, developing relationship between God and His people.
